Can the cat be saved by pressing reset? The night my registration data was cleared, I got my broadband back in three steps
I did something stupid that night. I was repairing the WiFi at my mother-in-law's house. I forgot the password for the backend of optical modem, and the user couldn't change anything after entering it. I dug out the instruction manual in the dark and saw a reset hole on the back. I thought, "Just reset the password." I pushed the card pin for five seconds.
All lights go out, restart, and come on again. I regretted it on the spot - this cat was Telecom's HS8145V5. Restoring the factory did not restore the password, but erased all the registration data of the entire machine. The LOS red light is not on, the PON light keeps flashing, and the mobile phone can connect to ChinaNet, but there is no network. Translate into adult language: This cat is now a machine that "does not recognize your home broadband". The operator treats it as a strange device.
That night I worked hard until 11:30, but the broadband was saved, and I didn't have to go to the business office and didn't spend a penny. Write down the process and give a copy of the homework to someone with similar skills.
Don't panic yet: Distinguish what reset erased
Many people think of reset as "recovering the default password", which is wrong. Reset is to restore factory settings. You need to distinguish between the two types of things in the cat's belly.:
One category is Settings on the device itself : WiFi name and password, LAN port IP that you changed, port forwarding, and those configurations that you made yourself. This kind of thing deserves to be thrown away, it was meant to be cleared.
Another category is Registration data on the operator side : LOID (or GPON SN authentication information), VLAN, voice registration account, etc. This kind of data was written into the optical modem by the installation master. It is the "access card" between this modem and your home broadband account. Reset wipes it all together, which is equivalent to invalidating the access card - the cat is powered on normally and the light flashes normally, but it cannot access the Internet because it does not know what identity it should report to the operator's OLT.
So the phenomenon after reset is very uniform.: The LOS light does not light up (the physical layer of the optical fiber is not broken), the PON light keeps flashing (it keeps trying to register, but fails to register), the WiFi can be connected, and the network cable port has data but cannot access the Internet. If the phenomenon at your home is that the LOS light is red, it is a fiber issue and has nothing to do with reset. Read what I wrote before. optical modem indicator light self-check Compare that article.
first step: First make sure the cat body is not broken
Before rescuing yourself, take precautions first: Confirm that it is "the registration data is lost" and not "the cat is broken". Three moves, five minutes:
One is to look at the lights. The PON light is flashing long and the LOS is not on, indicating "registering but not registering". This is the standard state after reset, and the cat is fine. If the PON is not on and the LOS red light is always on, then it is a problem with the fiber optic line. Reset cannot save it and it is not caused by reset. Please call for repair directly.
The second is to plug the computer network cable directly into the optical modem LAN port to see if you can get the address of 192.168.1.x. If you can get it, it means that the cat's DHCP is alive and the motherboard is not down. If you can't get the address, try another port. If all four ports don't work, you'll think the cat is really bad.
The third is to connect the mobile phone to the WiFi that comes with the cat. Can reach the top, can advance 192.168.1.1 The login page is also proof that the cat is alive. At this time, you will see that the background is restored to the default account - Telecom's telecomadmin with the password on the label on the back of the machine (the new firmware is dynamic, so don't rely on super management if you can't get it. Look down, you don't need super management to save broadband).
Passed all three steps, congratulations, the cat is not broken, it just has "amnesia". Take the next step.
Step 2: Call to get your registration code back, your conversational skills are very important
The registration data has been erased and you have to apply for a new access card for the cat. The correct way to do this is to contact the operator, don't fill it in by yourself - you can't guess the LOID, the string code is issued by the ITMS system during installation.
I called China Telecom’s 10000 number. Here is a talking point: Don't say "I pressed reset and want to recover my password", say "optical modem has been factory reset and needs to re-issue the registration data."」 . Speaking of the former, the customer service will most likely report your converted machine for repair, and arrange for a technician to come to your door, and wait two or three days. ; Speaking of the latter, customer service knows that this is something that can be done remotely and directly transfers it to the backend.
After transferring, the other party will usually report the installation address to verify the identity, and then give you one of two things.:
| what do you ask | What does the other party give? | how do you use |
| The LOID (or logical number) of my home broadband | A string of numbers, usually starting with the letter D or pure numbers in telecommunications | Fill in the LOID field on the optical modem registration page |
| GPON authentication method | 「Is your home certified by LOID or SN?」 | SN certified cats will report it themselves, you don’t need to fill it out. |
Once you get the LOID, write it down in the memo on your phone and ask customer service to take it. VLAN is also reported to you (Just ask "What is the VLAN number for Internet access services?" and they will check it). In some areas, ITMS will automatically deliver all configurations when re-registering, and VLAN will not be used. ; But in case the automatic delivery fails, you have this number in hand, and you don’t have to make another call to manually configure the WAN connection later. The moving cat will most likely use LOID or Password. The logic is the same. I will write down the specific differences in Change the optical modem to register yourself In that article, I won’t expand on it here.
Just add something before hanging up the phone.: 「Please help me trigger the re-issuance of ITMS." In some areas, it will be pushed automatically in the background after you hang up the phone. The cat will be registered by itself in a few minutes. You don't even need to enter the registration page - wait for ten minutes, the PON light will turn on and it will be ready. Jump directly to the verification step.
Step 3: Fill in the code on the registration page, restart and wait for it to run on its own
If PON is still flashing after ten minutes of waiting, you have to fill it in manually. Connect the computer network cable to the optical modem, and enter the browser 192.168.1.1 (Telecom cats also recognize it 192.168.2.1 , if you can’t get in, change this address).
Telecom cats generally have a "Device Registration" entrance without logging into the super management, which is near the login page or in the "Status-Device Registration" menu. Click to enter a separate page, just an input box: LOID. Fill in the code you received on the phone and click register.
Then comes the most grueling step of the whole process.: wait . Cat will restart, connect to the OLT, report the LOID, and wait for ITMS to issue the configuration. The entire set of runs takes between seven and eight minutes to half an hour. You can tell the progress by looking at the lights: PON changes from flashing to solid light to indicate successful registration. ; After the registration is successful, there will be a second wave of restarts when ITMS issues the configuration. Do not cut off the power midway, otherwise you will have to start over.
There are two types of stuck looks to recognize.:
The first is that the registration page reports "LOID does not exist" or the registration fails - 80% of the time the code is copied incorrectly. Call back to check. Don't try again. Some OLTs that fail several times in a row will blacklist the OLT and wait for half an hour to try again.
Second, the registration is successful and the PON is always on, but the ITMS configuration has not been issued and the Internet is still blocked. At this time, you need to enter the super management and manually establish a WAN connection (using the VLAN and broadband account you copied down), or make another call and let the backend push it manually. The steps for manually establishing a WAN are the same as those for establishing a connection when changing a bridge. I am Direct computer connection to optical modem dial-up I wrote about how to check in that article, so I won’t take up space by repeating it. If you can't get it from the super tube, turn it over Telecom super password acquisition In that article, try the four paths one by one.
Verify whether it was rescued or not: Look at two places
Don’t be in a hurry to celebrate after the PON lights up. It counts if you check two places.:
One is to connect the mobile phone to the cat’s WiFi and open a web page. It can be turned on, and the broadband is available. I conveniently changed the WiFi name and password back to the one my mother-in-law knew - otherwise her phone would be unable to connect to the old name, which would be another misunderstanding.
The second is to ask customer service to submit a repair order or close the work order. In some areas, re-registration requires an installation work order. After the phone is connected, the master will still come to your door with the order. Call in advance to cancel, so as to save people from running away in vain.
By the way IPTV: The configuration delivered by LOID registration generally includes IPTV services, but the set-top box may need to be restarted to recover. The TV screen is still black. I unplugged and replugged the set-top box, and most of it came back. What still doesn't work is that the VLAN does not have IPTV, which requires secondary processing.
Finally, set a rule for those who owe money
After this time, I ordered two for myself and gave them to you too.:
Pilot configuration before reset . After logging in, there is an entrance for exporting configuration files in the backend super management of optical modem, and you can save a copy to your mobile phone. Even if you register again after reset, the settings you have changed (WiFi name, LAN port IP, port forwarding) will have to be reconfigured one by one. It only takes ten minutes to have a backup. How did you guide me to write an article? Optical modem configuration file export backup , just look through it.
If you forget your password, don’t touch reset. . I forgot my backend password of optical modem, there are many ways to do it: Telecom's useradmin can change the WiFi layer. There is a super-managed password on the machine label. If it really doesn't work, send a 10,000 repair work order and have someone change it remotely. Reset is a last resort, a big move to "return the machine to an unregistered state", not a small switch to change the password. Routers are more tolerant. Each backend has a way to "only restore the password without erasing the configuration." I have compiled a comparison of factory restoration of routers. Optical modems do not have this treatment. Don't use the habits of routers to apply to optical modems.
| order | do what | Main points |
| 1 judgment | PON flashes long and LOS does not light up = the registration is lost, but the cat is not broken. | LOS red light is a fiber problem, there is another way |
| 2 code | Call customer service and report "Resetting to factory settings requires re-issuance of registration data."」 | By the way, LOID and VLAN are required to trigger ITMS delivery. |
| 3 Register | 192.168.1.1 Fill in the LOID on the device registration page and wait for the restart | If it fails, check the code first. Don’t try again to avoid being blacklisted. |
| 4 Verification | Open webpage via WiFi + IPTV, unplug and restart | Change the WiFi name back to the original one and close the door-to-door work order. |
From the reset to the rescue of my mother-in-law's cat, it took ten minutes to call and half an hour to wait, and the entire process was spent lying on the sofa scrolling through my phone. Afterwards, she said, "Just press it as you like." I smiled and didn't answer - when I pressed it for five seconds, I didn't know what to do.
